History of Balaji Maharaj ji Temple

Idol of Lord BalajiWe can see the main idol of Balaji Maharaj ji inside the temple with thick bearded and mustache. There is a story behind the establishment of this idol in Balaji Temple. Once a farmer was farming in the field near a village of Ambota in Rajasthan. Suddenly he found out this idol. He and his wife wiped out the mud and dust on it and bowed down their head in respect to the idol of Balaji Hanumanji.

This idol miraculously emerged on one sawan Shukla Navami samvat (1754 AD) 1811 by that farmer. They informed the Thakur of Asota village. That night Balaji appeared in the dream of Thakur. To the utter surprise of everyone that night Balaji also appeared in the dream of one of his great devotee Mahandas Maharaj of Salsar. He informed the Thakur about his dream.

Thakur of Asota became astonished to know that it was the same order from Balaji through their dream to send his idol to Salsar Dham. Thakur of Asota placed the idol on a bullock cart and released them free. The place where the Bulls reached was named as Salsar. Now the surrounding of the temple is a congested place. The walls of the temples are also adjacent to many people’s private property.

Architecture of Balaji Maharaj ji Temple

With the initiative of Muslim craftsmen Dau and Nora of Fatepur Shekhawati the Temple got its mud and stone made structure. The place is now a constructed with modern techniques and architecture. Later many disciples of Balaji have contributed to this temple like Ishwardas and Kaniram. They were said to be the descendants of Mohandas. The temple’s architecture is highly influenced with gold and silver works. An enriched white marble is used to the entire construction. Flower patterned sculptures and gold made carvings are present in the temple. The main gate is also decorated nicely with carvings of with marble. There is a Sabha Mandap followed by a circulatory alley. The temple is maintained by Hanuman Sewa Samiti.

The Temple gate is open to the devotees from early morning 4.00 a. m to late at night 10.00 p.  m. The temple usually never get closed. Many devotees come every year to say their offerings to the almighty Balaji Maharaj ji.

Festivals and Fairs at Balaji Maharaj ji Temple

The very common festivals like Sri Hanuman Jayanti, Purnima, Chaitra Sukla chaturdasi , bhaadra Sukla Chaturdasi, Asvin Sukla Chaturdasi witness ample devotees every year around and in the temple. The temple authority even donates the wrenching as possible every year. Devotees come here and perform rituals like coconut tying, offering heavy food to Balaji Maharaj ji etc. They can drink water of the wells with the blessings of Balaji Maharaj ji.

By Road: New Delhi to Balaji Maharaj ji Temple is more or less 335 km and you can drive through New Delhi to Gurgaon to Behror to Kotputli to Neemkathana to Udaipurwati to Sikar via Salsar Balaji.

By Train: The nearest railway station from Salsar Balaji is Ratangarh. It is just 50 kms far from Salsar Balaji Temple.
